Working on a project for #PocketQuest2023!

#PocketQuest2023 is a game design jam sponsored by DriveThruRPG  in 2023. DTRPG challenged me to make a 20 page rules light standalone game themed on space. I decided to make my own RPG from the ground up, and the concept that I came up with is DeckMe, a cinematic risk-taking poker card-based tabletop roleplaying game (RPG). You and your friends gather to tell a tale of heroes and villains in space, as you explore the deep black sea between the stars and planets. Your choices determine how the tale is told.

Your character generally starts the game with the full deck of poker cards – 52 normal cards and 2 Jokers. As you go through the game and overcome obstacles, you will have to discard and burn cards. If your deck ever runs out of cards, your character may die. You can advance your character with a currency called chips.

I will provide some pregenerated characters and character creation rules. I have further plans down the line. A solo character generation adventure where your character may die during character creation is one of the ideas. I also have an idea for a Wild West version of the game.
